What would you do?

Just wondering what you would do ...

During the school year we learned about some of the patriotic songs and their history. During that time, we learned about the song "Yankee Doodle" ... the chorus is:

Yankee Doodle, keep it up,
Yankee Doodle, Dandy
Mind the music and the step
And with the girls be handy

Somehow ... now my kids sing the last line as:

And let the girls be handy

Do you see my dilemma? Is it ok to just let it go and not correct them? :)

What would you do?

  1. I would probably mention the correct way the words were originally written and then let them change it or not.

  2. I would probably correct them...ha, know me! :)

  3. If they know they real words and are just trying to be funny, I would just let them have their fun. My son loves to change the words to songs like that - always has. My rule has been that he can't do that with songs about Jesus.

Yankee Doodle isn't quite the same thing as a patriotic National Anthem, either.

Thanks for leaving a comment! They are so much fun to read.
