Ephesians 3:16-21

Savannah drew a picture the other day. Nothing new - she is always making pictures to give to someone. However, this one was different than her usual pictures, so I took a closer look. She had 3 crosses with a heart between each 2. The hearts then had colorful "roots" coming out the bottom. There were also two "I love you!"'s on the page. The words that came to mind were "rooted and established in love" - I had to look up the reference and found that the surrounding passage is beautiful. There is a LOT of very cool truth in ths passage alone - sometimes I need to slow down and savor God's word long enough to listen to what it truly says.

Ephesians 3:16-21
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Maybe it was just another picture...but it spoke to me. I have been struggling lately with feeling a lack of purpose, even though in my heart I know that being a wife and mother is a very high calling. Our culture just does not seem to value the place of wife and mother. In that, the enemy likes to make me feel worthless and without value. I was calling out to the Lord asking Him to show me how much He loves me. I feel like he did with this picture and reminder of His infinite love for us through these amazing verses.

  1. I can so relate to this post! I often feel I've lost my purpose and then I am quickly reminded of the 2 little ones under my constant care. My purpose seems so different and often as though it is not enough! It is great to be reminded of the impact we will have by all of our efforts being poured into our children. We cannot count the lives they will touch and so all of our secret work will bear fruit - when we least expect it!
